Contour deburring tools

Contours define the direction

The deburring process is carried out by means of an adjusted CNC program that operates along the contour to be machined. The milling tool repeatedly removes the burr with the specified feed rate and chamfers it. Since the tool is guided precisely by the CNC program, the use of contour-based tools requires low positional tolerances of the workpiece.

Force Control Deburring Tool

Possesses the power to combat any trouble

The deburring process of force-controlled tools is based on the operating principle of a non-rigid, movably mounted cutting edge. A force is applied to the cutting edge of the tool, which causes the blade/cutting edge to deflect. Thus, the deburring cutting edge comes into contact with the burr-laden edge, removes the burr and creates a chamfer.

The deburring process is achieved through the rotational movement of the ceramic grinding tool, where the feed and feed actions can be performed either on the tool side or on the workpiece side. Mechanical deburring of cast profiles

Component: Aluminum component for extruder

In this example, the manual deburring work is replaced by the ibex deburring system. The system consists of an ibex compensating fixture and a special ibex milling cutter, which can compensate for dimensional fluctuations of up to 10 mm in the push-pull direction for this undefined contour, thus ensuring consistent chamfering and deburring results.

Complete mechanical deburring

Part: Magnesium alloy power housing

The component is produced in series (200,000 units per year) and was originally planned to be thoroughly deburred by machine. Due to its complex internal contour, processing could only be reliably carried out with the "back deburring cutter with path deburring system", as the spherical cutter can move parallel to the contour to be deburred, thanks to a separately created CNC dataset, thus enabling effective deburring. A ceramic fiber surface brush is responsible for deburring work on the back of the component. The 40 mm diameter brush only needs a few seconds to move along the entire edge of the component and complete the thorough deburring work.

Deburring of semicircular profiles without secondary burrs

Part: Aluminum alloy

After pre-milling the part with a PCD milling cutter, slight burrs appeared on the contour. Subsequently, this contour was deburred with a burr-free chamfer milling cutter, type 06N. The patented cutting edge easily removes residual burrs, creating a smooth "edge" with a clear chamfer – without secondary burrs.

Deburring of cross holes

Part: Hydraulic component made of 11SMn30+C steel

For quality reasons, even small series of hydraulic components should be thoroughly deburred by machine. HSD tools are designed in such a way that the cutting edge folds over without the pressure of a cooling lubricant, and the burr is only "blasted" off when a predetermined pressure is applied and the edge unfolds at the desired location. Depending on the material, even large burrs with root burrs thicker than 0.2 mm and attached burr flags or drill caps can be reliably removed. Despite different bore diameters, a single HSD tool with a diameter of 11.30 mm can be used to deburr the resulting cross-holes in other components. For bore diameters larger than the standard 1/4 inch size, the same HSD tool is used to traverse the area to be deburred in a circular spiral motion, and the burr can then also be reliably removed.
